Thank you so much for your review! Only partway through it! You’re dead-on with the BOTNS influence lol, and I totally agree that it was too layered on. TDOC was actually conceived as a bit of an anti-BOTNS. It’s not really present in the first book, but the idea was that instead of a story secretly set in the distant future. it was meant to be a fantasy story in the distant past.
As for the series, it’s meant to be a duology. I have no intention of dragging it out. It was originally meant to be one novel, but I cut it in half to get something published that year.
Finished! Thank you so much for your feedback! It always stings to hear it wasn’t polished enough, but that’s the curse of writing. To clarify about my editing process, I post it publicly for people to offer feedback, then I hand it over to a few people to go over the manuscript more finely. I don’t employ a professional editor at the moment because the prices for a good one would destroy my budget for rent.
Thank you for listening and even more for replying. I love to hear about authors' processes. I totally missed that Calrathia was supposed to be in the past. That totally changes our now > good > bad future timeline. But how is this other planet with an Orbital ring supposed to be in the past? People left Earth, settled on this other planet, then went back to Earth, lost their technology and became our ancestors? Like Battlestar Gallactica?

Tell me about it. I can actually recommend an editor.
In what other way was Calathria supposed to be anti-New Sun? And I'm glad to hear you're going to publish the end of the story.

Genesis 6, man. There’s room in there for all kinds of stuff.
